The Oaks Medical Practice
Feedback from our Patient Satisfaction Survey
In November 2008 we sent out 150 survey questionnaires about our services. We have analysed the results and compared them with the same survey from the year before. The survey has two main areas, getting access to the practice, and how you got on in the consultation.
ACCESS
The survey was done when Dr Robertson was celebrating more than 2 years as part of the team, and with Dr O’Mahony and Dr Sephton having delivered 20 years of continuing family medicine to our patients. We have in the last year extended our opening hours, offering an evening surgery on a Monday night starting at 6.30pm, and offering two mornings a week when we start at 8am. In this way we hope to cater better for Carers, Commuters and Pupils who do not want to miss work or school. We have increased and improved our practice nurse team and the services they offer. Patients can contact us by phone, by text or by email, and can visit our website for more information
Not surprisingly, the survey showed increased satisfaction with our receptionists and with our opening hours, and with our ability to handle phone calls. In particular, patients have found a big improvement in making arrangements to speak to the doctor for advice.
Despite the fact that we have increased our availability, and offer more appointments, there has been no change in the satisfaction with availability to see a particular doctor, or any doctor.
CONSULTATION
The results show that there has been a broad improvement with the quality of consultations, with improvements in the doctors questioning and listening, how relaxed the patient feels, and with the doctors explanations. Overall the doctors seem more caring and concerned, and patients expressed greater satisfaction with the consultation.
