How Do I...
Make An Appointment?
We have appointments for the doctors, the treatment room nurses, the phlebotomist, the midwife and dietician.
We are proud of our system to provide a personal service and encourage you to see your own doctor whenever possible. This helps you and your doctor to get to know and understand each other better, and your doctor is aware that he or she is responsible for all your long term care. We feel that having a personal relationship with you is worth a lot more than just what is written in your medical record. If your own doctor is not available at a time when you need to be seen, you can, of course, see another doctor instead.
Surgery consultations are by appointment only. We do try to keep to time with our appointments but on
occasions delays are unavoidable. Please let us know if you are unable to keep an appointment.
If you are over 75 and have not been seen within the last year, or aged between 16 and 75 and have not
been seen within the last three years, you may request a consultation with the practice nurse.
There are several ways for patients to book an appointment (Where possible please book to see your own doctor):
- In person at reception
8.30am - 6.30pm
- By telephone (0117 980 5700)
8.30am to 1.00pm or 2.00 to 6.30pm
- Text any time - 07501 331776
The receptionist will call you back during the day up to 6.30pm. If you text after 6.30pm or over a weekend, the receptionist will call you back on the next working day to book an appointment.
- Online
This method is done via this website. Please contact reception for more information.
- Emis Access
To use this service you will need to come into the practice to register. You will need to bring 1 form of photo identification and 1 proof of address.

Urgent Appointments
If you need to see the doctor urgently, please ring 980 5700 and speak to the receptionist, who will take
your details and either give you an appointment for a telephone consultation, or an appointment to see the
doctor. If it is an emergency, you will be put through to the doctor on call.
Chaperone
If a personal examination is necessary, we are able to offer a chaperone. If this is required please
inform the doctor. Please note we have more staff available during the morning to assist with chaperoning, so if you think a personal examination will be required, please try to book your appointment in the morning.
How Do I...
Request Telephone Advice?
The doctors and nurses are available for telephone advice. This may not be accessed immediately because
interruptions during surgery are avoided where possible. In that event the receptionist will take a message, ask the doctor
or nurse to return your call, or ask you to ring back when she knows the doctor or nurse will be free. If you
require other sources of advice, NHS Direct is a 24-hour nurse-led advice service providing health information
and advice on 0845 4647. Information can also be obtained online at
www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk
How Do I...
Obtain A Home Visit?
Home visits are reserved for the housebound. If at all possible, please come to the surgery as we have far
more medical facilities to offer there and home visits take up a greater amount of the doctor's time, which could
be used for seeing several patients in the surgery.
How Do I...
Obtain Test Results?
Please phone after 11.00am for results. The receptionist will pass on any comment made by the doctor. It is
advisable to phone to check if results have been returned to the practice. Some results take a few days and
others may take weeks. Please ask the person who is doing your test how soon you ought to phone for the result.
